GITEX Global 2026 Moved to December and Changed Venue. Here Is the 9-Week Plan to Actually Get Hired There

GITEX Global 2026 runs 7-11 December at Expo City Dubai, not October at the World Trade Centre. 6,800+ exhibitors and 200,000+ attendees. Here is how to turn four days into a job, week by week.

GITEX Global 2026 Moved. Here Is the Plan to Get Hired There Anyway.

First, the correction, because half the advice online is still describing last year's event.

GITEX Global 2026 runs 8–11 December at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City Dubai, with the GITEX Scale Summit on 7 December at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It is not in October, and the expo is not at the World Trade Centre. If you are planning travel, accommodation or meetings from an old guide, you are planning for the wrong month and the wrong side of the city.

The scale is the reason this matters for anyone job-hunting in tech. Reported figures for the 2026 edition include more than 6,800 exhibiting companies, over 200,000 attendees from more than 180 countries, and 400+ government entities, with Expand North Star reunited into the same mega event. That is more hiring managers in one building than you will encounter in a year of applying online — and most of them are standing at a stand, bored, between meetings, holding a coffee.

As of today you have roughly nine weeks. This is what to do with them.

Why a trade show beats an application portal

Understand the mechanics before the tactics.

When you apply online, your CV enters a queue. It is parsed, ranked and summarised before a human sees it, and you are competing against several hundred documents for a recruiter's eight seconds. The whole system is designed to filter people out efficiently.

At a stand, the filter runs backwards. A hiring manager has flown in, paid for floor space, and is standing there specifically to meet people. Their scarce resource for four days is not candidates — it is time and attention. If you arrive informed, specific and easy to place, you are solving their problem rather than adding to their pile.

The catch: that advantage only exists if you do the work beforehand. Walking the halls handing out CVs is the trade-show equivalent of mass applying, and it performs about as well.

Week 1–2 (now): build the target list

Do this before anything else, including fixing your CV. The list determines everything downstream.

Step 1 — Get the exhibitor list and filter it hard. GITEX publishes exhibitors by zone. The 2026 edition runs several that matter depending on your field:

  • AI Everything — the largest draw, with 2026 focused on agentic AI and sovereign data clouds
  • Future Finance & Digital Assets (FDX) — banks, regulators, startups and investors on payments, tokenisation and digital assets
  • Advanced Manufacturing — robotics, automation, digital twins, sustainable supply chains
  • Intelligent Lifestyle — connected homes, mobility, AI-driven design
  • GITEX New Energy & Move — green tech and intelligent mobility
  • Expand North Star — the startup side, which is where early-stage companies hire fastest and with the least process

Step 2 — Cut to 25 companies. Not 200. Twenty-five you could give a specific reason for wanting to join. For each one, record: what they do, which product line your skill maps to, whether they have a UAE entity, and what they announced in the last six months.

Step 3 — Split the 25 into three tiers.

  • Tier A (8 companies) — you will contact in advance and try to book a meeting.
  • Tier B (10) — you will visit at the stand with a prepared opener.
  • Tier C (7) — opportunistic, if time allows.

Step 4 — Check who is actually hiring. Cross-reference each Tier A company against its own careers page. A company with five open UAE roles is a different conversation from one with none.

Week 3–4: fix the document, then the pitch

The CV. You need two versions: a full two-page document to send by email, and a one-page version to hand over or leave behind. Both need to be structured for how UAE employers screen — recognised classifications, credentials prominent, parse-safe single-column formatting. Our guide to writing a CV for Dubai jobs covers the format in detail.

One addition specific to this context: put your visa status and availability on the document. At a trade show the recruiter is making fast mental sorts, and "already in the UAE, can start in 30 days" removes a question that would otherwise park you in the maybe pile.

The thirty-second version. You will deliver this standing up, in noise, to someone who has heard forty variations of it already that morning. Structure:

I'm a [role] with [X] years in [specific domain]. At [company] I [one concrete, quantified thing]. I saw you launched [specific thing they launched] — I'm interested in how you're handling [specific technical or operational question that follows from it].

The last sentence is the whole trick. Anyone can say they are interested in a company. A specific question proves you read something, and it converts a pitch into a conversation — which is the only format in which anyone remembers you.

The QR code. Put one on your one-pager linking to a hosted CV or portfolio. People lose paper. They do not lose the scan in their phone.

Week 5–6: book meetings before the doors open

This is the step almost nobody does, and it is the one that produces results.

Find the right person per Tier A company. Not the HR inbox. The functional lead — engineering manager, product lead, country manager — who will actually be at the stand.

Message them with a reason that is not a job request. A note that says "I'm looking for a role, can we meet at GITEX" gets ignored. A note that says "I work on [X], I saw you're showing [Y] at Expo City — I'd like fifteen minutes on day two if you have a gap" gets answered, because it is a professional conversation rather than a favour.

Send it 3–4 weeks out. Too early and it is forgotten; too late and the calendar is full. Follow up once, a week before the event. Not twice.

Aim for the quieter slots. The show runs 8–11 December. First morning is chaos and last afternoon is packing up. Mid-morning on days two and three is when stand staff can actually talk.

Target a realistic number. Six booked conversations across four days is an excellent outcome, and more valuable than forty stand visits.

Week 7–8: logistics, and the venue change is not a detail

The move to Expo City Dubai changes the practical shape of the week.

The summit and the expo are in different places. The GITEX Scale Summit is 7 December at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The expo is 8–11 December at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City. If you are attending both, that is two different commutes on consecutive days.

Plan around Expo City, not Downtown. Expo City sits in Dubai South, near the southern end of the metro line. Accommodation and transport decisions based on the old World Trade Centre location will cost you an hour each way.

December in Dubai is peak season. The event was deliberately moved into the cooler, high-season window, which the organisers have been promoting as "TechCation." Peak season means hotel prices and availability are a real constraint. Book early.

Register early and check what your pass covers. Visitor, conference and summit access are typically separate products. Confirm what you need before you arrive rather than at the door.

Floor plan before you walk in. With 40+ halls across 2.2 million square feet, improvising costs you a day. Map your Tier A and Tier B stands to a route and know which hall each sits in.

Week 9: the four days

Dress for the stand, not the beach. Business or smart business. December in Dubai is mild, so a jacket is comfortable all day.

Carry twenty one-pagers and no more. If you hand out more than twenty, you are spraying.

Work the schedule, not the crowd. Booked meetings first. Tier B stands in the gaps. Tier C only if a block opens up.

At each stand, ask for the right person. The people on the front edge of a stand are usually sales or marketing staff working leads. Politely ask who handles [your function] and whether they are on site this week. This single question is the difference between a brochure and a conversation.

Take a note immediately after every conversation. Name, company, what they said, what you promised to send. By day three you will not remember day one, and the follow-up is where the hiring actually happens.

Go to the fringe events. Expand North Star, startup pitch sessions, and the side events around the city during the week are where founders of small companies actually are — and small companies hire without the process overhead.

The week after: where most candidates lose it

Everything above is preparation for this part, and most people skip it.

Follow up within 48 hours. Not a week later. Reference the specific conversation — "you mentioned you're rebuilding the ingestion pipeline" — so the message is identifiably yours and not a template.

Send what you promised. If you said you would send a portfolio piece or a note on something you discussed, send it. This is the single cheapest way to be the one candidate who followed through.

Apply formally as well. A stand conversation is an introduction, not an application. Submit through the company's own portal and mention the conversation in your cover note.

Expect January. Decisions made in December are often processed after the new year. Silence until mid-January is normal, not rejection. Follow up once in the second week of January.

Two warnings

Verify any offer that comes out of this. Deadline-heavy, high-energy hiring windows attract fraud, and the UAE has an active recruitment scam problem. Any request for payment is disqualifying, and a genuine private-sector offer comes on the MOHRE-approved form with a serial barcode you can check. Our guide to verifying a UAE job offer covers the procedure.

Do not treat a four-day event as a job search strategy. GITEX is a concentrated opportunity, not a substitute for the rest of the work. The candidates who do well there are the ones already running a disciplined search, for whom the event is an accelerant. If your CV is not ready and your target list is not built, the event is four days of walking.

Frequently asked questions

When is GITEX Global 2026? The GITEX Scale Summit is on 7 December 2026 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, and the expo runs 8–11 December 2026 at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City Dubai.

Where is GITEX Global 2026 held? The expo has moved to the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City Dubai, the first edition at that venue. Plan travel around Expo City rather than the Dubai World Trade Centre directions used in previous years.

How many companies exhibit at GITEX? Reported figures for the 2026 edition include more than 6,800 exhibiting companies, 400+ government entities, and over 200,000 attendees from more than 180 countries.

Can you find a job at GITEX? Yes, but not by walking the halls handing out CVs. The candidates who get hired build a target list weeks ahead, contact specific people before the event, book a handful of real conversations, and follow up within 48 hours. The event is an access mechanism, not a job fair.

What is Expand North Star? The startup-focused event reunited with GITEX Global in 2026 as part of the same mega event. For jobseekers it is often the higher-yield half, because early-stage companies hire faster and with less process than enterprise exhibitors.

What are the main zones at GITEX 2026? The 2026 edition includes AI Everything, with a focus on agentic AI and sovereign data clouds, plus Advanced Manufacturing, Intelligent Lifestyle, Future Finance & Digital Assets, and GITEX New Energy & Move.

Do I need a specific pass to attend? Visitor, conference and summit access are generally separate. Check what each pass covers before registering, and note that the summit on 7 December is at a different venue from the expo.

Should I attend if I am not based in the UAE? It can be worth it if you have booked meetings in advance and your skills are genuinely scarce here. Attending with no appointments, from abroad, in peak season, is an expensive way to collect brochures. If you are weighing a longer move, our guide to self-sponsored UAE residency covers routes that do not depend on an employer.

Is it better to attend the summit or the expo? For most jobseekers, the expo. The summit on 7 December is oriented toward senior strategic dialogue; the exhibition floor is where the hiring managers are.

Nine weeks is enough time, if you start with the document

The plan above has one dependency. Every step — the target list, the outreach, the stand conversations, the follow-up — ends with someone receiving your CV. If it is not ready, none of the rest converts.

DubaiCV builds CVs structured for the UAE market: parse-safe formatting, the regional fields employers expect, credentials and classifications where a recruiter will actually see them, and per-application variants in minutes rather than an evening. Build the two-page version and the one-pager this week, and spend the remaining eight on the list.
