Junior or senior: what to put first
Applying at junior level
Show analytical output: the models you built, the analyses that changed a recommendation, and the size of the clients. At analyst level, GCC firms hire for rigour and speed, so make both visible with numbers.
Applying at senior level
Lead with the engagements you sold or led, the client sectors and the outcomes. Public-sector and GCC-client experience goes in the summary. If you have built a practice, a team or a client relationship worth a figure, say so.
Common mistakes on management consultant CVs
Writing every bullet as "supported the team" — say what you personally produced.
Naming clients you are not allowed to name; describe them ("a GCC sovereign entity") instead.
Leaving out the sector: consultancies staff by industry.
A summary that could belong to any consultant anywhere — say why you fit the region.
What is specific to the UAE
Much GCC consulting work is for government and semi-government clients. If you have public-sector or GCC-client experience, say so in the summary — it is the first thing partners here screen for, ahead of the firm name.
Like every CV for a UAE employer, yours should also show these details near the top — a generic Western CV leaves them out, and recruiters here filter on them:
- Visa status — e.g. "Employment visa", "Visit visa until 12 March", "Golden visa" — or "Requires sponsorship".
- Notice period — How soon you can start. Recruiters here shortlist on it.
- Nationality — Customary on UAE CVs, and some roles and visas depend on it.
- UAE driving licence — Only if you hold one — required for many field roles.
- Languages — With a level for each. Arabic only if you can work in it.

Do management consultants in Dubai need Arabic?
Not for most roles — English is the working language. Arabic is a real advantage on public-sector work and in Saudi Arabia, so list it only if you can work in it.
Is GCC experience required to get a consulting job in Dubai?
It helps but is not required. Firms hire from London, Paris and elsewhere all the time. If you have none, show comparable work: government clients, large transformations, or projects for companies that operate in the region.
How long should a consulting CV be for the UAE?
One to two pages. Firms in the region read it like any strategy firm: education, firm, then engagements with outcomes. Put the engagements in bullets, one result each.
