Credentials that carry weight in the UAE
Teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or a national teaching licence). International schools in Dubai hire against the curriculum you are qualified to teach.
UAE teacher licence. Dubai schools usually take new hires through it via KHDA: tests in pedagogy and your subject, plus set professional-development courses. Show you are eligible.
Attested degree. Required for the teaching visa; start the attestation early.

Make every line specific
Most teacher CVs describe duties. The ones that get shortlisted describe results. The rewrite adds detail you already know — numbers, scale, tools — never experience you don't have.

Junior or senior: what to put first
Applying at junior level
Put your qualification, the curriculum and the key stages first — that is how Dubai schools filter. Early-career teachers are hired, but schools look for evidence of good practice: observation grades, results for your classes, and anything you ran beyond your own timetable.
Applying at senior level
Lead with responsibility: head of department, key-stage lead, pastoral roles, and what changed under you — results, inspection outcomes, staff you developed. Senior leaders should mention inspection or accreditation experience, because inspection culture is strong in Dubai.
Common mistakes on teacher CVs
Not naming the curriculum — British, IB, American and Indian schools hire separately.
Leaving out the qualification that makes you licensable (PGCE, QTS or a national licence).
Writing duties ("planned lessons") instead of results for your classes.
Forgetting safeguarding training, which every Dubai school asks about.
What is specific to the UAE
Name the curriculum in your headline — "British curriculum Maths teacher", "IB PYP teacher" — because Dubai schools recruit by curriculum. KHDA inspection culture also means progress data and safeguarding carry real weight; give numbers where you have them.
Like every CV for a UAE employer, yours should also show these details near the top — a generic Western CV leaves them out, and recruiters here filter on them:
- Visa status — e.g. "Employment visa", "Visit visa until 12 March", "Golden visa" — or "Requires sponsorship".
- Notice period — How soon you can start. Recruiters here shortlist on it.
- Nationality — Customary on UAE CVs, and some roles and visas depend on it.
- UAE driving licence — Only if you hold one — required for many field roles.
- Languages — With a level for each. Arabic only if you can work in it.

Do I need a UAE teaching licence before applying to Dubai schools?
No. Dubai private schools usually hire first and then take you through licensing: the school submits your file to KHDA, and the UAE licence involves tests in pedagogy and your subject plus set professional-development courses. What you need up front is a degree and a recognised teaching qualification.
When do Dubai international schools recruit?
Most hiring for an August start happens between October and March. Schools also recruit through the year for January starts and for cover.
Should a teacher CV for Dubai include a photo?
It is common and accepted in the UAE. A professional headshot is fine; it is not required.
Which curriculum should I put in my headline?
The one you are qualified and experienced to teach — "British curriculum Maths teacher (KS3–GCSE)" or "IB PYP homeroom teacher". Schools recruit by curriculum first.
